The International Society for Computerized Electrocardiology (ISCE) was established in 1984 in the state of California as a non-profit organization devoted to the advancement of electrocardiology through the application of computer methods. An outgrowth of the Engineering Foundation, which sponsored the early annual meetings since 1975, the society aims to:

-Promote research and dissemination of research results through publication of conference proceedings
-Stimulate collaborative links among researchers, industrial developers and medical practitioners to enable translational research, and transfer of technologies
-Promote communication and education relevant to the subject
-Encourage and support young investigators in the field
-Open venues for validating computer programs and development of databases for such validation
-Organize annual conferences on the computerized interpretation of the electrocardiogram

The ISCE Board of “Trustees” (BOT) consists of senior executive leadership from the computerized ECG industry, meeting at least one day per year in an open dialogue forum. The primary objective of the ISCE BOT is (1) to develop sufficient awareness across the industry of the incentives and challenges necessary to sustain innovation in computerized ECG devices that improve clinical care and that respond to unmet or newly defined market needs and opportunities, and (2) to identify areas of particular interest that could be communicated to the ISCE Board of Directors as potential Research & Development topics for future ISCE Scientific Sessions programs. The logistical objectives of the ISCE BOT will be to: (1) provide a stable fiscal solution to sustain the ISCE Scientific Sessions and organization with a multi-year pledge period for the trustees, and (2) define the structure and content of the “one day per year” format of the “Trustees” meeting

The BOT shall serve as advisors to the ISCE Board of Directors, for the purpose of promoting goodwill between the Society, industry, and industry regulators. Membership in the BOT will be constituted from the leadership of sponsoring industry members, who will agree to a program of planned financial support for the mission of the organization. Members of the BOT need not be regular voting members of ISCE, but a member of ISCE may serve on the BOT, and a member of ISCE who is an elected or executive member of the Board of Directors may also serve as a member of the BOT. It is anticipated that at least one meeting of the BOT, together with the Executive Directors and other invited individuals, will be held annually, as coordinated by the ISCE Treasurer in conjunction with the Executive Directors. This meeting may be held separately or together with the annual conference, at the convenience of the Trustees and the Directors.

A financial commitment underlying membership in the BOT will be established and supervised by the Treasurer, with the approval of the Board of Directors.

In return for this pledge, ISCE will:
-Promote the advancement of electrocardiography with the transfer of technology, and the provision of a venue for validating computer programs and the development of data bases for such validation.
-Promote presentations from industry engineers and scientists at ISCE.
-Provide special Tutorial sessions precede the regular ISCE sessions for industry attendees. Those sessions deal with engineering and clinical aspects of new devices, or the theories underlying such items as signal processing.
-Arrange face-to-face meetings for trustees and FDA on a yearly basis to address regulatory issues.
