Predictive Analytics for Patient Monitoring in Critical Care Medicine: Balancing Alarm Fatigue (part 1) With Novel Predictive Algorithms (part 2)

This section will provide updates on evolving predictive analytic approaches to identifying deteriorating patients or those at risk for deterioration in future, and balancing predictive alerts against alarm fatigue. We will cover the problem of alarm fatigue and its underpinnings, and the state of clinical and analytic approaches to reducing false alerts using current monitoring solutions.  We will also hear about the need for clinicians, scientists and industry to develop common metrics whereby potential monitoring solutions can be evaluated for efficacy in alarm fatigue reduction.  An overview of the principles and practice of predictive analytics monitoring at the bedside will be provided, a view of approaches to enhance model training, and regulatory aspects of patient monitoring predictive analytics. Finally, the audience will have the opportunity to participate in discussion with the expert panel.
